As I installing my Windows XP SP2, I had a minor problem, I don't know how to activate my copy of Windows!!! Btw, my version is a typical version for Malaysians, so don't ask why I can't activate ^^
Here' s a little stuff I found about bypassing Windows XP SP2 Activation Step
How to bypass WPA (Windows Activation) on Windows XP
Tested on Windows XP Professional SP2 and Windows Server 2003 R2.
First, click "Run..." on your start menu, type "regedit" and press enter.
The Registry Editor opens up, and you are presented with a long list of keys on the left.
Browse through the list to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WPAEvents.
On the right, you should see a stringz value named OOBETimer.
This is the activation stuff. If you change it, Windows will change it back within a few seconds.
Whatever its value is, change it to FF D5 71 D6 8B 6A 8D 6F D5 33 93 FD.
After you've changed it, right-click WPAEvents and choose "Permissions..."
Under "Permissions..." for WPAEvents, Go into the Advanced settings.
UNCHECK "Inhereit from parent the permission entries that apply to child objects. Include these with entries explicitly defined here"
When prompted what course of action to take from here, click "COPY"
From there, Highlight the SYSTEM line, and click edit.
Deny all options, apply, and run a free copy of windows.
If not, just try again. Microsoft owns for making it so easy to hack their software.

Did NOT work by me! (i'm using WinXP SP2 2600)
I have changed the registry when 7 days remained. After the 30 days have passed the Registration dialog came on (as usual) -> yes -> Already registered -> and then the User logon screen apeared (unusual, because i have only 1 User, except the default hidden Administrator user). When i clicked on the User the registration dialog came out again -> yes -> already registered -> OK -> and again back to the User Logon. And the same on n'on.
Thanks to FFX MADMAN (you saved me a week), i had the patch, applied WPA fix (only), and everythings OK (no more dialog, nothing).
YOU JUST SAVED MY LIFE AL MY WORK WOULD BE DELETED WITHOUT YOUR TIP!!

THIS ACTIVATION CRACK WORKS FOR WINDOWS HOME SERVER TOO! I just confirmed that for my WHS install, this works like a dream!!! The same registry path exists in WHS. Everything is identical.

Also i just thought id add that you could use "msconfig" before shutting down and using F8 to boot into safe mode.
Go to "Start"... "Run"... and type in "msconfig".
Now go to the "BOOT.INI" tab and tick the "/SAFEBOOT" box.
msconfig will ask you to now reset.
Windows will now restart and boot in safe mode.
To stop it from booting into safe mode after youve finnished... Just go through the same process and UNCHECK the "/SAFEBOOT" box and then apply.
Seems like alot of messing about... but it does have its uses.

I had the same problem of "already activated" copy but impossibile to reach the desktop.
So, I reboot in safe mode, loaded the patch using a USB Key, reboot and... it works!

it doesn't work.i'm getting windows activation nag screen after logon 3 weeks after i did what you suggested. Clicking on the validate windows shortcut will tell me that my copy is already activated. but on next logon i get the same nag message... my windows validation update version is :kb905474

It works, but after 30 days u could not able to logon ur system. the message prompt that "activate ur windows" "yes" "no", when u pree yes it shows "your windows is already activated. click ok." and when u press ok it logs off again.
only stops countdown for 30 days
sir the bypass work but it seems before the end of the 30 days after booting up my pc a dialog box appears telling me that i have only 7 days to activate OS.... please do help.... cheers

The FFX Madman Anti-WPA.exe patch works!!!!, the regedit did not WORK and Win XP will still ask you to activate it after 30days.
After 30 days, D/L the patch, F8 into safe mode and applied the patch..

For those of you who aren't sure about downloading it - do not be afraid. Some people have said that it is a virus, but keygens and patches such as this one are known for that kind of behavior, and will generate false positives in your anti-virus programs. After browsing the read-me and seeing the person who created the patch explain how each aspect of it worked, it made it much easier to just apply it. Run the patch in Safe Mode if you can't get past the log in screen, and then re-run it to see if it applied. If the patch applied, you're home free.
